Earlier this August, Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Al Franken (D-MN) introduced the Creating Hope Act of 2010 (S 3697), which aims to promote the development of therapeutics for rare diseases. The bill is aimed at providing incentives to pharmaceutical companies for the development of treatments for rare diseases. It would create a “priority review voucher” for companies that develop new rare disease drugs and biologics. Companies could use these vouchers to receive expedited review by the FDA of other drugs under development.

I know two people who have children with this disease and they were both born in Ironton, Mo. 63650 This makes me wonder if there isn’t something in the region or town that could be a cause of this horiffic disease.
